My second year is spent studying for my (BA) in Business Management. The OU is a great institution. Students are supported throughout the learning process by well-designed study materials. These include books, recorded tutorials, and audio/video resources that are available 24 hours a day. I found the tutors to be extremely helpful.

My degree was completed in 4 years while I worked full-time as college lecturer and had 3 children. The best thing about the OU is that you can choose to study full-time or part-time, which suits your lifestyle. The OU is also a lot cheaper than a brick university. You have access to manuals for each module, online resources (I used them a lot), and tutorials online (I didn’t attend any). This will help you make progress in your studies. Each module contains around four assignments, as well as 2-3 online mini-exams. These are open book. One of the downsides to the OU is that there are still very strict deadlines. This can sometimes mean that social life and work have to be moved around a bit. A few of the OU lecturers were also a bit irritated by my marking standards. In one module, I scored 89% on an assignment while in another module, I scored 59%. It was an enjoyable, affordable, and good experience. I'm now thinking about doing my masters at the OU.

The open university has been a fantastic platform for me and has opened many doors already. I am able to study flexibly in my own time and the support I receive is great!

This university is not for you if you don't like receiving any help when you have problems, aggressive leftist propaganda (I'm apolitical), or general incompetence. Although I didn't complete my degree here, it was something I managed to get through. It's all nice for the first year but it gets hell after that. They claim this page not for a reason.

It is quite shocking how bad the IT and computing degrees are. The majority of the material is outdated by 15-20 years. They also try to market it as a "computer science pathway", but it only covers the basics. Project management is more important than any other skill, especially at Level 3. You will be marked on your "self-reflection" and "planning" for the final project. This is simply a matter of writing down dates and times. The fact that your actual project was not marked is likely because it is impossible to find a competent software developer to mark it.
